The project proposal E-Vita (European life experiences) is centred on game-based andintergenerational learning. Individual experiences, biographies, customs, knowledge andcross-border European experiences from various European countries will bedocumented and shared in a motivating, engaging serious-games (SGs) webenvironment. This will be achieved by developing a set of European cultural gamesbased on the experiences of senior citizens. The approach rests on the principle thatlearning from one's own experiences and those of others is not merely a way to nurtureknowledge. It is a means to share social and emotional intelligence, and it is aboutempathy for the lives of others.The project emphasises the following aspects:Applied research on game-based learning – we will develop and test a learning andexchange environment (web-based SGs) that meets the interests, motivations,competences, experiences and demands of older people and engages everyoneinterested in learning from the experience & knowledge of older generations.Intergenerational learning and exchange processes among seniors and youngergenerations – we will promote lifelong learning and intergenerational processes in anadequate and informal fashion.Intercultural competences – we will encourage experience sharing. Older people whohave experienced several historical periods and events and are knowledgeable aboutthe habits, experiences etc. of past times, will have the opportunity to reflect and sharetheir experiences as well as to learn from the experiences of others.Promoting European citizenship and identity – those who are able to comprehendEuropean history and culture and the achievements of the European integration processwill be enabled to act sensibly and socially in the present and future, and to take onresponsibility in the sense of European active citizenship, and hence strengthenEuropean cohesion and understanding. E-Vita is a target for all educationalprofessionals and life long learners.
