“E(U)nite Against Thalassemia-Talasemiye Karşı (A)Birlik Ol” is Erasmus + Program, Mobility of Youth Workers “Training Course” Project which willl be organized by Defne Municipality from 25 June 2016 to 3 July 2016 with participation of non-governmental organizations from Armenia, Albania, Georgia, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Serbia, Greece, Italy, Croatia, Romania and FYROM in Hatay (Turkey). There will be 1 trainer and 4 participants from Defne Municipality as representatives and 1 trainer from Croatia and 1 Trainer from FYROM while there will be 2 participants from each country. Other countries will be represented by 2 or 3 participants. 28 participants while 6 of them will be disadvantaged young people or youth workers and 3 trainers will gather in the Project which means there will be 31 participants in total. Disadvantaged participants will be take part in our Project will be young people and youth workers who are facing difficulties to integrate in society because of thalassemia, sickle-cell disease, or other hemoglobin disorders. Balance in gender and age will be also taken under consideration in the Project for participants. Thalassemia, Sickle-cell disease or other hemoglobin disorders are common hereditary health problems in Caucasian, Balkan, Mediterranean and Eastern European Coutries. Marriages between relatives, oblivion, and neglectfulnessare main reasons which are triggering hemoglobin disorders and these disorders become big threats for young generations. People who are suffering from these disorders are facing difficulties while they are trying to integrate in society, while they are not able to work properly and their cures are effecting economy of their countries in negative way. Participants who will be youth workers, volunteers, experts will be leaded by trainers through non-formal learning methods (Getting to know each other activities, ice-breaking games, team-building activities, simulations, drama exercises, brainstorming, analyzes, group discussions, etc) for them to see how thalassemia, sickle-cell disease, and hemoglobin disorders are effecting society in negative way, find out which strategies should be used in order to get rid of these disorders, how people who are suffering from these diseases can be integrated in society, understand European Identity, active citizenship, European Citizenship, concepts, and be aware of their important position in society. Also awareness will be raised about mentioned disorders in local, national, European and global level. The project will support contention against hemoglobin disorders and integration of people with these diseases in society, in long term and participants are expected to be active in this process.
