The e-DISTRICT CiPro project aims at developing a prototype European ODL system (Learning Management System – LMS) focussing upon skills development specific to the management of emergency situations (i.e. medical emergencies, emergencies relating to civil protection and the management of large sporting events). Key project results will comprise a Virtual Reality (VR) environment integrated into a Learning Management System (LMS) and a series of ODL training modules corresponding to the three identified emergency areas, with each training module divided into multimedia didactic units at both basic and advanced level. Primary project beneficiaries include students; existing employees involved in the safety and emergency management area; medical and paramedical personnel and public bodies responsible for safety and civil protection. Dissemination will take place throughout the project lifetime and will involve the hosting of workshops and a final project conference, the release of articles to specialist press and a range of local networking activities.
