Dzieci dla integracji-warsztaty miedzykulturowe
Start date: Jan 3, 2011,
"Children for integration - intercultural workshops" is a project directed to Polish children and those of refugees from Mazovian Smoszewo village, where refugee centre is located. The participants of the project will be about 60 children in the 8 to 15 age bracket, coming from Smoszewo and neighbouring towns of Emolinek and Zakroczym. The aim of the project is to integrate Polish children with refugees’ children. It is to contribute to the process of tolerance promotion. We would also like to make creative use of the spare time of children who are at risk of social exclusion on account of their origin, dwelling place or access to education. Children will take part in joint intercultural artistic workshops held from February to April 2011. The workshops will include classes in art, music, theatre, cooking and film above all. The latter will be given by an Ulisses production group from Warsaw. As a result a 30-minute quasi-documentary with children in the cast will be created. The film is to be presented during an intercultural day, which will take place towards the end of April in neighbouring Nowy Dwor Mazowiecki. Apart from the film presentation, we intend the intercultural day to include an exhibition of drawings made by children, intercultural cuisine tasting and music performances. The project will conclude with a website including the film created by children, their drawings, a picture story from the workshops and articles on multiculturalism and refugees. We will also record 200 CDs, 150 of which will be sent to refugee centres and various cultural-educational institutions in districts where refugee centres are located. On each CD there will be recorded the film shot by children and a conclusion of the project - a model scenario for a lesson in multiculturalism. With the CDs there will be enclosed information brochures on the subject of refugees, multiculturalism and program ″Youth on the Move‴.
