Dress Alike, Feel Alike
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

We believe that with our project we proved that countries with different cultures and traditional costumes could understand each other and the way they think, better, when they wear each others? local clothes, traditional costumes and be part of each others' cultures. The main objectives of the project are wearing the traditional garb of the participating countries and organize a cultural play with these costumes, and while doing so, using the language of the host country beside English language. So, we aim to empathize better by dressing and thinking alike. Our cultural play was the Turkish traditional "Henna Night". One of our participants from Macedonia (Shefije Mustafi) played the bride and one of the Turkish participants (Berkan Karaka?) played the groom. They wore the traditional Henna Night costumes and performed the cultural play. All the other participants (19 people) also wore traditional costumes and they took part in the play. Thus, we shared one of our traditional values with our participants. Also, each group made a presentation about their cultures and shared some of their traditional values. We wore traditional Albanian, Turkish and Azerbaijani costumes. Our participants from Macedonia are Albanian; so, they shared their Albanian traditional values with us. Also, we made simple dialogues in each of the participating country's language. We learned basic greetings in 3 languages (Turkish, Albanian, Azerbaijani). We visited historical places and shared Turkish history with all of the participants. After the activities, we realized that we have many common values and traditions. We also learned about the differences of our cultures and felt that those differences are richness.
