Dreamy Europe
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jul 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Dreamy Europe is a ground breaking international youth exchange which would work on intercultural learning of young people through culture, art and traditions. It is a fantastic tool to empower young people which will give them the opportunity to think, reflect and react about themes like European culture/s, European citizenship, racism and xenophobia, problems of young people, etc. In all these subjects, interculturalism plays a big role and non-formal education is a very interesting method to work on. A lot of effort will be putted to create commixes of traditional fairy tales and their own fairy tale. Participants will make a theatre play from it. All this outputs can be used after at the local level and by the partners. But even more important will be the process of preparing the comics and the play where participants should take an active role and come with their ideas and knowledge. They will teach each other their traditional dances and other folk habits. Participants will come together from various backgrounds and cultures, with different experience and points of view. They will have an opportunity to discover the intercultural richness through interactive methods connected with beauty of art. Young people will share and present their cultures and use intercultural dialogue as a tool to understand their own backgrounds and realize their European identity. There will be 42 young people from the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Italy, Estonia, Poland and Belgium at the age 15-25. Big part of them will have fewer opportunities. Participants come from socially weak classes, minorities as well as people with some difficulties like unemployed people or people who can't study university. We also prefer participation of young people who have never participated in a youth exchange before. There will be various activities connected with the topic "fairy tale". Firstly participants will acquaint with traditional fairy tales through pantomime workshop about the Grimm's fairy tales and through workshop where they will create a commixes of traditional fairy tale. Then they will make this commix as a theatre play. After that they will work on their own fairy tale. Participants will make the new one, they will prepare a script, and advertisement, coulisses, costume and they will work on a fairy tale as on the theatre play - as a director, dramaturge, actors etc. They will make a fine art photos about their new fairy tale. The methodology of the project will be very rich. It will use the methodology of non-formal education and give a chance to young people themselves to participate very actively. Various methodologies will be used - practical workshops, cultural expressions activities, debriefing, presentations, discussions in small groups and in plenary, simulation games, etc. We will deal with the topic in a creative and interactive way. One of the result of the project that we envisage is to create comics of traditional fairy tales and their own fairy tale. Participants will make a theatre play from it. The project will have direct impact on the participants as well as the local community. Young participants will be involved in many activities of the project. The local community will be able to see and participate on special events like "intercultural dinner", "national evening" where participants will present their countries or they will be able to see some of the performances. We also hope that some of the young participants will decide to continue after the project, they will organise their own project or perhaps even establish their own NGO. We will inform them about the Youth in Action programme and possibilities to organise their own project. We will present the project as a good practice at various seminars, trainings, partnership-building activities and conferences where we take part. Thus, we would like to ensure the follow-up of the project and motivate other youth workers to work on this topic with young people. The young participants of the youth exchange should act as multipliers of the results. We will provide them with all the photos and materials about the project and motivate them to share their experience with their friends, parents, teachers and other members of their local community or organisation. It will increase the number of young people who want to be active in the field of voluntary work and Erasmus+ programme.
