Domo-meccanica come nuova frontiera della conoscenza
Start date: Nov 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project aims to develop professional figures with highly specialized skills able to run control systems highly concerned into building automation, particularly in the field of home automation assistance, a discipline that designs and manufactures systems whose purpose is the improvement of the living environments for the old people and people with special needs. The transnational training completes the education plan and technical preparation through an experience which will mark students’ consciousness of European dimension and technology diffusion to knock down geographic and cultural differences. The social and the economic context has strong consistency with the project objectives, in fact it denounces a negative population growth, 30 thousand residents less than in 2008 (1.640.379 in 2013, 1.671.001 in 2008). It is an alarming data if we analyze the resident population by age groups: most of the Sardinians are aged between 40 and 64 years (614 642), the birth rate has decreased from 8,07% in 2008 to 7, 59% in 2012, the death rate has increased from 8,68% to 9.53%, the working age population rate is 67.2%, less than the previous years, the elderly people rate (aged more than 65) is 169,2%. The project will be directed to 105 students attending the Vocational Institutes of Macomer, Nuoro and Sassari. The stages will take place in Spain and England for a period of three weeks, and students will alternate classroom teaching with work-based learning in enterprises. Participants will have the opportunity to experience vocationally related learning in the field of home automation and home automation assistance in order to enforcing their professional competencies on electrics, electronics and computing systems whose aim is to create more flexible electrical plants in living units, monitored by web, smartphone and tablet, useful for people with disabilities and older people. Students will be able to intervene in the installing, programming and testing of the security systems and building control systems. At the end of the mobility period the students will take part in further non-formal and informal learning activities in the enterprises which are involved in this project. In the longer term, the project aims to encourage the employment rate of the young people involved in the project through the cooperation among all partners in order to raise awareness of the business community and the institutions to the benefits of validating/certificating the skills acquired in non-formal and informal learning.
