The Masterschool, is a Europe-wide development programme offering filmmakers a unique opportunity to access the international non-fiction market. Its ultimate aim is to strengthen the European TV industry and produce exciting new content through an international network of documentary professionals.The Masterschool is a tailored programme in which 15 European producer/director teams develop their documentaries at workshops across Europe over an intensive nine-month period. They receive guidance from international experts matched to the particular needs of each year's Masterschool intake.The four workshops are as follows:1. Storytelling2. Funding and Producing3. Pitching – Leipzig Networking Days4. Financing and DistributionOver the course of the 10-month programme, participants perfect their treatments, trailers, budgets and financial plans. At the Leipzig Networking Days they then pitch their fully developed projects to over 40 renowned international commissioners and distributors. Following the pitch there is a follow-up workshop on how to act upon the interest expressed by broadcasters in Leipzig and how to execute their budget and finance plan.Documentary Campus also hosts industry events in conjunction with the Masterschool workshops, allowing participants to network and gain additional knowledge on the current trends in the industry. And participants can do an internship with an international production or distribution company, which operates in the international non-fiction market. Here they can gain an insight into a company's multinational strategy or visit international markets and gain practical experience important for their future work.Upon completion of the Masterschool, participants' projects should be ready for production with international production companies and broadcasters. Our ultimate goal is to create a European network among the participants and to provide them with the knowledge, skills and contacts they need to work successfully in the international market.
