PROJECT
FINISHED
For 5 years now, with more than 15 groups a year, Schoolclash has been experimenting and developing the tools of interactice non-formal learning. A major part of the content of the Schoolclash' projects is to guide groups through the city. Mainly young people between the age of 16 and 24 are guided through the city and learn about the history, the multiculturalism, and other 'big-city-themes' like homelessness, migration and gentrification, all in an non-formal setting. Especially in an urban setting, there are a lot of possibilities to use the surroundings to educate about civic, political and historical topics in a non-formal way. To improve Schoolclash eductional skills and to get in contact with other organsations in this working area, Schoolclash organised an Urban Education project in 2014. To improve these outcomes and to improve the network, Schoolclash organises a second edition from the 'DO the City': non-formal learning in an Urban Context from the10.09.2016 until the 17.09.2016 in Berlin, Germany. for youth workers, involved in the non-Formal education in an Urban setting. The participants will be from the Netherlands,Turkey, Germany, Rumania, and Portugal . The participants will learn, experience, discuss and create new methods and tools of non-formal learning in the city in order to interact with people in the city, and discover and discuss historical, civil and political aspects of the city. With a variety of tasks and methods, visiting 'best practise' organisations whom are using new methods in the files of non-formal urban education, the participants will be interacting and learning about the city, and will discover new ways to learn, play, interact, with the city.In the final stage of the project the participants will use the collected succesfactors to create an urban educational activity and will test them on other participants. The new aquired outcomes , and the documentation of the project will be collected in a blog. The blog will be the platform for exchange of experiences and information for people interested in urban education in an non-formal setting. After the project, the improvements or changes caused by the experiences of the project, will be documented on the blog too. The blog will be a platform for an exchange of experience and information- between the involved and interested organisations and a window for showing the benefits of non-formal learning in a urban context.
