The project "Diversity – Our History, Our Culture" associated 32 people from 4 different countries: Poland, Italy, Croatia and Romania. Culture was the main theme of the exchange. We wanted to pay young people’s attention to the essence of cultural heritage, including crafts and its influence on individual, national and European identity. During the project we used informal methods of work. Such methodology of work enabled unconscious implementation of good practices and strengthened the chance for using those practices in the future. We sahowed people how to benefit from cultural heritage of our close environment. We also paid people’s attention to the aspects of history in our regions. We engaged young people with lower chance into our actions. Such people often do not have the opportunity to engage in various actions due to the area they live in or their hard financial situation. By involving them in active participation we wanted to overcome the problem of social marginalization and promote equality of chances. During the exchanges we organized national evenings where each country had the opportunity to present their culture, customs and traditions. Not only did it serve broadening people’ knowledge about other cultures but also about participants’ own culture. Thanks to intercultural activities young people developed the attitudes of tolerance and respect towards ‘foreign’ nations. Undertaken actions also helped in minimizing the very often mistaken stereotypes concerning other cultures and nations.
