"Diversifying youth work in countryside" is a long-term EVS project, between Spain organisation INDICOT as sending organisation and NGO Tähe Youth club from Estonia, as hosting organisation. Service lasts from 1st of August 2014 until 31rd of May 2015. Volunteer will live and work in Rannu youth center. There is big need for EVS project in Rannu youth center, because the youth center is opened from the 17th of March and there is much to do in the very first phase in youth center - creating good reputation, traditions, furnishing space and win youngsters trust with various activities organized in youth center.
Rannu youth center is located in Tartu county and there lives only 1622 habitants, including about 200 youngsters in age 7-26. Volunteer will have particular opportunity to change local community with her/his personality. As foreigner, volunteer will bring Spanish culture, behavioral and attitude to small community. Volunteer will enlivens life in Rannu with her/his Spanish origin. Volunteer will live in Rannu, so she/he will be contacted with locals also in free time.
Project objectives are next: run for at least 2 hobby classes, organize different event, learn estonian language, teach foreign language to youngsters, helo youth worker with youth center space interiors, lead youth active work and organize activities to other youngsters with them and have a cowork with volunteers who work in Tähe Youth club. Final goal is that this project impacts volunteer, youngsters and whole local community to be open-minded, tolerance, directed to problem solving, creativity and have positive attitude. Activities will be carried out in non-formal methods.
This project visibility is provided through public blog posts, youth center web page, videos and photos about service activities and through articles in local media. This project will be good example how EVS can diversify youth work in rural areas, where are only one youth worker, who does not have time and energy to organize different activities for all target groups.
As longer term benefits we want to stand next to rural area youth centers In Estonia, share our experience about EVS projects and coordinate EVS projects to diversify youth work in country side. Foreigner in a small village will bring excitement to local community and we see that rural area youth centers need that kind of excitement. We want to show that you do not have to live in city to have versatile and plenty of activities that are directed to youngsters. We want to break that mentality and show that youngsters have power that makes life interesting in small village. We do our best to lead that belief to small communities.
Tähe Youth Club as sending and coordinating organisation will get valuable experience that helps them to expand their activitities and develop in international youth work field. We want to develop as competent and trustee partner for different cooperation projects - EVS projects, youth exchanges, democracy projects etc.
