#digitalYOUth
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The youth exchange #digitalYOUth will take place from the 13th to the 19th of September 2016 in Viljandi, Estonia, with a total of four participating countries, namely Estonia, Austria, Iceland and Romania. The project focuses on the challenges and opportunities posed by the rapid developments in digital technology over the recent years. Through a series of interactive games the participants will be introduced to different concepts of New Media. The aim of these activities is to encourage the young people to develop a more responsible attitude towards the use of digital technology. The participants will have to discuss and find answers to questions like: What is the future of Social Media Platforms? How can they be used to benefit the wider community? What happens to the data that I post on the internet? Who has access to this information and how might companies use my personal data to turn it into profit? Relating to these questions, particular attention will be paid to the issue of data protection and the development of a European Digital Rights Charta. Together the participants will have to come up with their own suggestions on what this Digital Rights Charta may look like: Whose rights should it protect? Who may profit from it? Are there certain groups of people whose rights and power may stay unaffected, while others have to face a severe limitation of their freedom to surf the web? etc. Finally, the last part of the youth exchange will be dedicated to a number of online-tools that can help the participants to gain access to the European job market and push their personal skills profile to an international level. The participants will not only learn how to create a Video-CV in English, they will also be introduced to the European Skills Pass and be given the opportunity to work on their own Europass CV. At the end of the exchange, the participants will have visited the Viljandi Info and Communication Technology Academia and a local high-tech company, will have created video-diaries and Video-CVs, will have created their own, perfect Social Media platform, will have started their own European Skills Pass and personalized Youthpass. And, they will have made new friends.
