Different Approach - Common Path
Start date: Mar 1, 2012,
This project is developed from long-term cooperation among Czech, Hungarian and Uruguayan organizations working in the field of youth. The 9 months EVS will take place in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. There will be one volunteer from the Czech Republic working in a community centre (Escuela Rural Nº 50 La Laguna near Colonia del Sacramento) with children and youth in rural area of Colonia. The main themes and objectives of this project are:1) to support inclusion of youngsters living in rural areas and promote active ways of spending free time to avoid risky behaviour (e.g. drug abuse) and unemployment The volunteer will be involved in organizing leisure time activities for youth (e.g. sport, drama workshops, trips) in the community centre.2) to promote volunteerism and active participation of local youth in community life The volunteer together with the tutor will develop workshops focused on personal development inspired by methods used in Lužánky and Intendencia de Colonia. Consequently, youth with support of the volunteer and youth worker will prepare some workshop for the community (e.g. children’s day, flea market). Thus a youth network which would support and create community life should be established and volunteerism will be promoted (both by the presence of the volunteer and by volunteerism of local youth).3) intercultural learningBoth the volunteer and local people will experience different approaches through their common contact and also cultural evenings about Czech and European culture organized by the volunteer. Those experiences should bring acceptance of differences on both sides, support mutual understanding, tolerance and open possibilities of intercultural learning4) to create, reinforce and build long-term partnership between partner organizations with focus on sharing good practises used within youth work in Intendencia de Colonia (HO) and Lužánky (SO)
