Nowadays “Healthy Nutrition” is a crucial issue for a lot of people. In case of health problems the health insurance companies are an important partner for the insured. The health insurance staff needs special competence and experience for advising their customers.
With the project “DIETA MEDITERRANEA” we together with Italian partner school want to provide this experience and make “Healthy Nutrition” easy to learn. At the same time, this is a major topic of the ERXPO 2015.
Our partner ACCADEMIA 5T will provide methodological support for us. We would like to encourage our students to gather experience and information about food matters with respect to the used products (origin, production, ingredients, health value, use, eating habits …) directly in the partner countries and establish a connection to the issue of a healthy, balanced diet (food pyramid, Seven Countries Study by Ancel Keys, Dieta Mediterranea). At the same time, an equal group will gain experience and information on this subject in Germany.
The findings and results of the group work will be documented in an internet blog. We will write a cookbook with the aim to provide information on a healthy diet for people who suffer from specific diseases such as diabetes, lactose intolerance, or celiac diseases. We are also planning to prepare an exhibition, a symposium, and a cooking event.
At the same time, business / marketing students of our technical college gather experience and information on food marketing strategies. They will especially focus on the origin of food products, traditions, characteristics, traceability and transparency.
This project is designed to improve the background knowledge on “Healthy nutrition”, develop the interdisciplinary co-operation between students of the different school types (vocational school, technical college), encourage our students to work self-reliantly, extend the dimensions of their thinking (economically, efficiently, ethically), and to improve their foreign language skills.
