Die Querschnittsaufgaben der neuen Ausbildungsordnung für ErzieherInnen in Schleswig-Holstein im europäischen Vergleich
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The application for this project is based on 17 years of cooperation in the education of social-pedagogues all over Europe. The experiences gained over that time have condensed to a certain verdict: It is especially beneficial for the education of social-workers to have practical socio-pedagogical skills and qualifications that are compatible with modern-day Europe -which give advantages for both the participants as well as the European employment market in social pedagogy. The intention of the project is therefore to address professional basics as well as specific topics concerning cross-section tasks, which were recently added to the education of social-workers in the process of its restructuring. It is expected of the participants to address these particular topics in a subject-specific manner and hence improve their professionalization. The project group is relatively heterogeneous: It consists of people who completed professional training, secondary-school graduates and university dropouts. In this project around 27 students participate in two measures of mobility across the European continent. In this time the major purpose of the project will be the transfer of basic theoretical knowledge in social pedagogics into practice under professional supervision. In addition, participants will be eligible to take part in the practical implementation of cross-section tasks such as participation, inclusion, prevention, language acquisition, teaching of social and moral values and media education. The centre of these activities will consist of on-site specialized research as well as development and trial of adequate methodological-didactic units. The project is conducted in two phases. In the first mobility the students will especially face tasks of research and discourse. The second mobility serves the purpose of putting acquired skills and knowledge into practice. Both phases will last around 12 weeks each, all of which will be prepared, mentored and finally analysed by the students’ school of origin. Our main concern is to guide our students to a well-prepared and self-confident start into their professional practice. The internships across Europe during their education serve a formidable purpose here, as the participants face numerous and diverse challenges which they need to persist in order to pass the project successfully. The question whether the outcome of this project is of a sustainable nature is hard to answer. Even after 17 years of being a European School effects such as e.g. direct consequences for the local employment market in social services are still hard to verify. However, one useful indicator may be that our European activities are followed with great interest by local day-care institutions. In addition to that, the students passing our European Grade are experiencing advantages on the local employment market. Furthermore, we are well aware of the fact that our European Graduates regularly make their way into European social services. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to empirically observe this fact in order to provide objective, reliable and valid statistical proof. Nevertheless, we are very confident that the benefits indicated in this excerpt will prove themselves valuable to our students and their future employers.
