The teaching staff of 3rd Gymnasium of Argostoli has set as its goal to create a modern learner-centred school. This type of school aims at enhancing skills, creativity, critical thinking and the generation of ideas among learners. Moreover, it intends to cultivate a spirit of togetherness, teamwork and cooperation among participants in the teaching process. What is actually desired is the ongoing feedback via the use of innovative methods and teaching tools which help realize the afore-mentioned aims in order to provide our learners with the necessary equipment for their future life as active citizens of their local community and to develop their European identity.Within this framework, our main goal is that our teachers stay abreast of the latest developments in the field of education and become acquainted with new alternative methods and teaching tools which will be used in a variety of ways so as to enhance the teaching process and encourage student cooperation in the classroom as well as during music/school events and school projects.Specifically, we aim: - to develop our communication and teaching skills in order to effectively organize and update the quality of the teaching and learning process- to improve our teachers' professional profile- to implement innovative learner-centered approaches (Experiential as well as Participatory Approaches)- to integrate ICT in teaching practices and school events- to raise interest in learning and to improve student creativity and participation. In order to address and fulfill the afore-mentioned needs, our school is interested in participating in European Training Programmes. These programmes will acquaint teachers with innovative methods of teaching, new technologies and practices which have already been implemented in various European countries. Therefore, our plan initially aims at training 3 teachers, selected from the teaching staff, who will attend the following Training Programmes. The selected Programmes train teachers in the implementation of new educational tools and technologies; each programme focuses on a different field; yet they all deal with the integration of ICT in the teaching process via Experiential and Cooperative Learning Methodologies. 1. The "Tablet Courses" Programme offers visits to secondary schools in Dublin. These schools implement innovative teaching practices which promote high quality teaching and which instill cooperation among students. This programme efficiently combines pedagogic visits to schools with structured training activities. During these visits teachers will observe the implementation of these innovative practices in the classroom.2. The "Tap-Swipe-Pinch. Tablets changing the way to learn and teach" Programme, held in Spain, presents ideas to develop innovative learning scenarios in the classroom with the use of smart devices. Moreover, it gives examples of good teaching practices which have been implemented in various European schools and trains teachers in the use of educational and collaborative platforms and software for students with special learning needs. Furthermore, it presents tools which promote students' critical and creative thinking so that they can develop skills which will help them to become innovative. 3. The "Mobile Devices in Education" Programme, held in Portugal, aims at enriching the teaching process and various school events with the creative and experimental use of ICT via various applications. The Programmme acquaints trainees with a wide variety of teaching practices which incorporate freeware tools, connect methodology and technology and develop learners' skills. The second important phase of our plan includes the dissemination of the knowledge gained by the trainees to the other members of the teaching staff via presentations, workshops, internal training of all interested teachers. Trainees, therefore, will act as multipliers of new experiences and knowledge. Then the practical implementation and integration of the newly-acquired knowledge in the educational process will take place. The final phase of our plan involves the dissemination of the newly-acquired knowledge to the educational community of our Prefecture. Our school will organize a Workshop and will invite teachers, parents and students of our city and Prefecture to inform them about their training experience. In the long run, we believe that our contact with other teachers and school units from abroad will not only enrich and update our teaching practices but it will also lay the foundation for the creation of a network with other schools and organizations, it will promote future cooperations and it will help achieve our school unit's European vision.
