Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project “The development of skills and competences of the future nurses through European mobility” aims to meet the needs of the students of the Ecological Post-Secondary School “Sf. Stefan” Craiova towards developing their professional competences needed to compete on the European labor market. These skills will help them correctly use the technology found in modern medical units across Europe, facilitate integration in different social and cultural workplaces and, by extent, become more flexible on the European labor market. After analyzing the needs of our organization and the student’s needs to develop professionally, we have found there is a need to train, to a European standard, a large number of future nurses. This is the motivation behind this project. This project aims to gain, improve and consolidate the professional and practical skills and competences of the future nurses in the area of nursing, to the current level of the labor market; these skills are meant to improve the employability and the prospects of a successful career within the European Union. The project answers the training needs of the school and its students, outlined in the objectives bellow:• Development of the competences and practical abilities in the area of nursing, to the level set by European standards;• Development of linguistic and communication skills, focusing on a European wide language;• Acquiring learning experience in a European health system.• Training and developing consciousness of belonging to the European community. The participants involved in the project are 30 students from 2nd and 3rd year of study, following the Nursing specialization at the Ecological Post-Secondary School “Sf Stefan” Craiova. The future nurses will take part in a five week internship at a specialized company in Valencia, Spain, in May-June 2017, in one flow. During the five weeks of the internship, the participants will carry out, under the guidance of tutors, all specified training activities, so that they will obtain the professional skills mentioned in the training agreement; these skills will be entered in the Europass mobility certificate, certifying and validating the skills and competences offered by the training:• use modern medical equipment, according to signs of the disease;• recognize changes induced by aging;• evaluate the clinical status of the elderly;• communicate with the patients;• develop and implement nursing plans;• correctly administer prescribed medication;• comply with labor safety and protection; The methodology used in the project development highlights steps and includes all activities that will take place during the project, starting with identifying needs, formulating goals and objectives, establishing the theme, title, project team, identifying partners, structuring and developing activities and ending with impact, dissemination and evaluation. At the end of the internship, the 30 participants will have the professional skills and abilities to European standards specific to the Health and pedagogical assistance areas, which will motivate them to continue training in medical field, and when leaving school, to be able to get a job in the country or abroad according to the qualification for which they prepared. The 30 participants will acquire: communication skills in English and Spanish, life experience in a different social and cultural environment, giving them better adapt to the working conditions and involvement of a European Company. The experience of transnational cooperation will help to develop the school’s international strategy, to increase its capacity to operate at European level, to establish new partnerships with medical facilities in Europe, to prepare, implement, monitor and capitalize on international projects. The impact that the project will have on the school and community will increase interest in school for new mobility projects undertaken in collaboration with European partners and, by disseminating the project results at local, regional and European level, the project will enhance the quality of European education and training mobility-type projects. As long-term benefits we foresee a significant improvement in the quality and attractiveness of our activities and motivation of teachers and students through participation in European projects.
