A feasibility study will be conducted on the gradual alteration of the Parikkala-Syväoro border crossing into an international border crossing via which there will be the most direct and short connection between Lake Ladoga and the Finnish main road network.The feasibility study will be the basis on which the authorities in Finland, Russia and the European Commission will found their decisions when considering the changing of the border crossing international and when negotiating on e.g. EU Tacis funding for the development and investment activities to improve the status of the border crossing.
