Breast cancer, the most common female oncology disease, is the primary cause of premature death for middle aged women. In the project countries the death rates among identified patients are measured around 31%. Though the average diagnosis rates are similar to those in EU countries, the death rates in the project countries remain much higher. The long term objective of the project is to considerably reduce breast cancer death toll and increase the use of preventive measures by improving breast cancer early diagnostics and treatment system and increase of awareness on breast cancer treatment and prevention among professionals and population in border areas of Belarus, Lithuania and Latvia. Expected Results: The project aims at reducing breast cancer mortality rates through development of prevention test screening programmes of mobile mammography and establishment of hereditary cancer outpatient facilities. The increased accessibility to health care services and emphasis on healthy lifestyle will be the focus of the awareness raising measures: information booklets and information campaigns.
