The project will encourage cooperation between the two cities in cross-border region: Daugavpils (Latvia) and Utena (Lithuania). Creative industries are considered to be one of the fastest growing sectors in the global economy today, outperforming traditional economic sectors. They find their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent, holding a potential for wealth and job creation through the generation and use of intellectual capital. The overall objective of the project is to create favourable environment and develop a support programme for starting creative entrepreneurial activity and building competitive creative industries in the Latvia–Lithuania cross-border regions. To commercialize the creative potential, multifunctional clubs of creative industries will be established in the premises of the studio-residence block of the Rothkos Art Centre in Daugavpils and at the building of Utena branch-museum in Leliunai. Creative industries club will provide a range of services: a wide range of infrastructure, master-classes, library, consultations on topics like business start-up, registration, marketing, attraction of investments, book-keeping, business planning, etc. Informal training will provide motivation, knowledge on how to become self-employed and become an entrepreneur, how to transform the creative potential into financial benefit. Dedicated portal will provide comprehensive information about support and development facilities for creative industries, a common database containing information on creative events in the cross-border region. Products will be introduced to the market by means of on-line sales. Daugavpils creative industries club will continue cooperation with Creative industries club of Utena by organizing various exhibitions, seminars, creative laboratories, workshops for the representatives and managers of creative industries.
