Development and testing of multilingual e-learning materials and courses in advanced engineering subjects based on reusable elements (LOMs), second generation e-learning architecture and methodology - e2engineering

The e2engineering project will develop new e-learning methodologies for versatile training programmes in advanced engineering subjects. With the development of multilingual e-learning products, the project partners aim to develop a transferable and transparent certification system which can be used in different branches of computer-based engineering technologies. A series of e-learning materials will be developed and piloted in four partner countries, specific to the field of engineering IT applications. Computer-based learning materials will be interactive with the user, and will be developed at different levels for different target groups. Learning materials will include filmed lectures of leading professionals and accompanying notes, in English, which will be accessible via the web and on CD-Rom. Other learning materials will include a multi-lingual glossary on engineering and a CD-Rom illustrating practical engineering applications. All learning elements will be systematised and stored in the project's computer-based Learning Content Management System, ready for abstraction to different target groups. Two central modules will be addressed in the development of courses, computer-aided engineering in design & manufacturing and computer-aided engineering in materials science. The project aims to create a new 'Certificate in Computer-Aided Engineering' for students who successfully complete the project courses. The project and partners' websites, alongside mailing lists, video-conferencing, workshop organisation and conference attendance, will all contribute to project dissemination.
