Development and Promotion of Youth Enterprise Services in Central Europe

The project aims to develop stable and effective Youth Enterprise Services targeting disadvantaged young people in the UK and three central European counties. It is estimated that 800 young people will be assisted at the end of the project and as a result 100-120 youth businesses created. Building upon the success of the UK partner's ‘Wandsworth Youth Enterprise Scheme’, together with existing youth service provision in other partner countries, the project aims to provide client-led enterprise counselling and training. The specific needs of disadvantaged groups, such as women and the Roma minority, will be addressed in the development of these services. Key phases for the project of include enterprise development; the application of enterprise services in schools; the development of certification and impacting upon services in wider 'user' groups/society. An innovative element of the project is the promotion of enterprise learning in schools as well as through other channels such as outreach work and information and awareness campaigns with young people. Empowerment of local partners is encouraged so they can take the lead in youth enterprise development that is geared to their particular needs. A 'Society for Youth Enterprise Development' will be established in central Europe to spread client-led enterprise learning/counselling techniques, and to develop and manage the establishment of an accreditation system for enterprise learning and counselling attained by counsellors, teachers and students. International conferences and local events will support the project's dissemination process.
