Developing skills in Android applications and programming e-commerce platforms

In an increasingly competitive global marketplace, employees are confronted with the necessity of having growing skills, placing greater emphasis on the ability to learn, adapt and develop new skills. Consequently, it is necessary that fundamental basic skills should be developed and young people achieve their potential, for example. Essential soft skills development (such as teamwork, collaboration and punctuality) that are needed for the job. This happens only if suppliers are truly responsive to the needs of employers and ensure that the education and training provided really prepare young people for the workplace. School must prepare students to face the challenges of a world that is going through an intellectual revolution of communication, digitization represents a unique opportunity to give real meaning to student-centered education, but also requires an initial training. The project developed by our school aims at four main co-ordinates: *personal development as a whole by acquiring information by participating students due to their established relationships, communication skills, relationships and behaviour;*focusing on career orientation aspirations, interests, strengths and weaknesses;*professional training by acquiring new professional elements in terms of knowledge, skills and competencies;*language training by developing multilingual skills in a context of social work and authentic environment.The target group consists of 32 students from Maths-Computer Programming intensive Computing / English classes, assistant programmer qualification, grade X to XI, who will participate in two flows, either having 16 students, in a two-week internship, in the field of IT ("Application programming on Android mobile devices "and" Implementation of e-commerce platforms ") in a VET center, Salesian Colegio San Pedro, Sevilla.The participants will accomplish specific tasks:-design, development and deployment programs in Adroid mobile devices;-installing and configuring Eclipse, making menus, organizing and structuring database design and database management;-realization practice of multimedia applications;-installing and configuring a local server for web applications;-installation and configuration platform for Wordpress WooCommerce and Prestashop-administrating products, methods of payment and delivery, promoting the e-commerce platform store;-creating an online store using elements of its platform customization and adaptatio.The selection of the participating students is performed on the basis of clearly defined criteria: motivation, communication and relationship skills, learning accomplishments, knowledge of English, Spanish, ICT and Computer Science, etc. Outcomes and benefits after the training placement:* The training guarantees personal development: it allows students to live in a real environment in the workplace context and social relations with the opportunity to take responsibility, to carry out work tasks independently leading to increased self-confidence and self-esteem ; the work and social environment really means a challenge that causes a change and development of communication skills, relationships and behaviour;in the near future it will trigger an improvement of school outcomes as a result of the development of the intellectual potential. *From a Professional Perspective: students become aware of their potential, what they are proficient in , their weaknesses and adopt those strategies enabling them to capitalize on that potential and to improve weaknesses. Working in a real environment students acquire new knowledge and professional skills and will have an overview of the role and rules that characterize the labour market, they have the opportunity to put to test in advance the skills and competences they have acquired thus becoming better prepared for the labour market, and for the rapid integration in the labour market, by developing a positive attitude towards teamwork. *Developing multilingual skills: use of foreign languages in real context enhances language skills and increases fluency, because it is perceived as a real means of communication that allows students to live and work even outside the country. Transnational mobility augments the development and improvement of language skills. *As to the school institution: the educational institution acquires a better image in the community, greater competition to offer admission to high school, better prepared students will opt for "Barbu Stirbei" National College and a new application for the Erasmus+ will be written in the year 2017.
