The project is consisted from 4 subprojects 2 in the Greek territory and 2 in the Bulgarian territory.GREECE - SUBPROJECT 1: VERTICAL AXIS 70 '”XANTHI - ECHINOS - GREEK-BULGARIAN BORDERS".The project is consisted of the road studies required for the design of the vertical axis 70.GREECE - SUBPROJECT 2 :NORTHEAST BYPASS OF NEVROKOPI The project concerns the construction of the northeast section of Nevrokopi bypass.BULGARIA SUBPROJECT 3 : REHABILITATION OF ROAD II-86 CHEPELARE - SOKOLOVTSI The projects concerns the rehabilitation of road II-86 with total length of 14 km.BULGARIA SUBPROJECT 4: ENGINEERING FOR ROAD II-55 The projects concern the Construction works of road II-55 with total length of 27 km. Expected Results: OBJECTIVES: SUBPROJECT 1: XANTHI - ECHINOS - GREEKBULGARIAN BORDERSThe objective of the project is the completion of all the required design studies of the 49 km road in order to achieve the best technoeconomical result when the road isimplemented. Under these new conditions the development of new commercial and social transactions and economic activities as well as land uses (eg tourism infrastructure, craft / industrial activities etc.) will be achieved, giving new opportunities to protect and enhance the natural and cultural environment, influencing the subsequent planning policies and regional development in the cross-border area.SUBPROJECT 2 : NORTHEAST BYPASS OF NEVROKOPIThe main objectives of the project are: • traffic safety and prevention of accidents • time and transport costs reduction • development and improvement of the area • tourism increase in the area • strengthening interconnection and traffic between Greece and Bulgaria. SUBPROJECT 3 : REHABILITATION OF ROAD II-86 CHEPELARE - SOKOLOVTSIThe objectives of the rehabilitation of road are improvement of road traffic conditions atcross-border area; improvement of accessibility of the road network, social and economicaldevelopment of the regions (more opportunities for the business and agriculture produce);ensuring better travellers comfort.SUBPROJECT 4: ENGINEERING FOR ROAD II-55The objectives of the rehabilitation of road are improvement of road traffic conditions at cross-border area; improvement of accessibility of the road network, social and economical development of the regions (more opportunities for the business and agriculture produce); ensuring better travellers comfort.OUTPUTS: SUBPROJECT 1: XANTHI - ECHINOS - GREEKBULGARIAN BORDERSThe expected output is the completion of the design of section Xanthi-Echinos-Greek Bulgarian Borders through design studies splitted geographically as follows:1. 'Xanthi- Sminthi, about 11 km long, 2. "Sminthi-Echinos”, about 11 km long, 3. "Echinos-Melivia”, about 8 km long, 4. "Melivia-Dimario-Greek-Bulgarian borders” about 19 km long.SUBPROJECT 2 : NORTHEAST BYPASS OF NEVROKOPIThe projects outputs are:• Construction of intersection (north) connecting Lefkogia Bridge with NR 57 Nevrokopi-Exochi - Bulgarian borders. • Construction of intersection connecting Lefkogia Bridge with the rural road to Potamous and the settlement of Nevrokopi. • Bridge Construction on the crossing of the stream Lefkogia at ch.3 +049 with oblique length 3x22,60 meters. Total length 850m. SUBPROJECT 3 : REHABILITATION OF ROAD II-86CHEPELARE - SOKOLOVTSIExpected outputs for road II-86 are: 14.172 km rehabilitated road with traffic lanes width 7.50 / 7.00 m, constructed 16 new culverts, rehabilitated two bridges, rehabilitated and constructed new supporting and retaining walls, installed gabions, installed reinforced mesh, laid 120 000 sq.m. of dense bituminous asphalt, improved road drainage system.SUBPROJECT 4: ENGINEERING FOR ROAD II-55Expected outputs for road II-55 are: 26.887 km rehabilitated road with traffic lanes width 6.00 / 7.50 m, reconstructed (replacement of the entire road structure) 14 sections with total length of 1866 m, laid 230 000 sq.m. of dense bituminous asphalt, new lined ditches, improved road drainage system.
