PROJECT
FINISHED
FPDeva 2014 project has involved IES Isla de la Deva, of Asturias (Spain), which is a public Vocational training school acting as sending partner, two intermediary companies in Italy: Associazione Culturale Enea and Milan Mobility, and three Italian hosting partners, Azienda Ospedaliera Bianchi Melacrino Morelli, Mucciola SPI and Chisari Francesco - Agenzia Riello.
We had moved 13 students of intermediate vocational training, 8 of Nursing Assistant, 3 of Electrical Installations and Automation and 2 of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems which had practiced in companies in their sectors for four weeks as part of the Training at Work module .
In general, students had previous basic training in Secondary Education but some of them had had another kind of vocational training. In most cases, their language skills in foreign languages were very limited.
The structural change suffered by the regional economy in recent years, with the dismantling of traditional productive sectors, as well as the current crisis situation, have led to youth unemployment rates very high in Asturias .
In this context , we believe that our project could make a small contribution in opening up possibilities for obtaining a first job to young graduates in Vocational Education in two ways :
1) Incorporating the culture of mobility to these participants, who can see to get a job in another country not as an illusion but as a real opportunity.
2) The increase of their skills both in the professional, linguistic, social, cultural and personal field, which makes them distinct from the rest of job seekers.
Main activities:
1) Selection of participants: September 2014 / January-March 2015 / September 2015
2) Select the accompanying teacher: September 2014
3) Selection of host companies: September 2014 / January 2015
4) linguistic and cultural preparation: September-November 2014 / January-May 2015 / September-November 2015
5) Organization of travel, accommodation, associated documentation (European Health Insurance Card if necessary passports, etc.): September-November 2014 / March-May 2015 / September-November 2015
6) Definition of the training program, activities and working hours: September-November 2014 / March-May 2015 / September-November 2015
7) Development mobility : November-December 2014 / May-June 2015 / November-December 2015
8) Management of the Europass-Mobility Document, accrediting and assessment reports of companies and sending partners certifications: December 2014-February 2015 / June-August 2015 / December 2014-January 2016
Objectives and results:
- Improve the “mobility culture” in a weak mobility group, which will be the future workers of the UE.
- Acquire professional skills that facilitate labour market access.
- Improve skills in UE languages.
- Foster knowledge of different educational and working systems in the different states of the UE.
- Provide added value to the “curriculum vitae” of the participants with the “Europass-Mobility”
- Develop social, interpersonal and transversal basic skills, as autonomy, responsibility, initiative, respect for multiculturalism, etc.
Impact:
On participants, first, obtaining the title of Technician as a result of having achieved the levels of professional competence related to the Training at Work module, personal enhancement, enrichment of the curriculum vitae for the stay abroad and improving their Italian level. All this would increase their chances of continuing further studies and their ability to join the workforce.
On IES Isla de la Deva, the development of the project had enabled us to strengthen the process of internationalization of the organization, to improve the positioning of Vocational Education among students and teachers, improve our external image and increase our projection at local and regional level.
Long-term benefit:
Strengthening ties between European countries, promotion of tolerance and multiculturalism, increased levels of mobility among professionals , increase in the numbers of students of Vocational training, and improving the relationship between the education sector and the labor market.
