Dessine-moi ta liberté
Start date: May 4, 2015, End date: May 3, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

“Dessine-moi ta liberté” is an international exchange project for the youth. Its target is to help them to know and understand the principle of “freedom of speech”. It is our intention as well to study the religions phenomena, its role in our everyday lives, and its interaction with the principle of “freedom of speech”. The current context and the recent events - the Charlie Hebdo attacks among them-, show us how topical this debate is. In this way, La Ligue de l’Ensegnement des Vosges proposes to carry out a reflection work about the ideas of Religion and “Freedom of Speech” in the framework of an international youth exchange meeting at Épinal, from July the 13th to 25th, with the participation of three groups of young, in total 18 participants from 18 to 20 years old, originary from France, Poland, and Romania. The exchange will have as a main target to tackle topics related with the rise of religious extremism, but also religion itself in a broader focus, the traditions in their countries which come from a religious heritage, as well as dealing with the relationship between politics and religions. Eventually these subjects will provide several starting points for the discussions on the ideas of tolerance, freedom of speech, and freedom of the press. We plan the following activities so as to drive the project to a successful end: - Debate and idea exchange sessions, where the concepts of freedom of speech and interreligious dialogue will be discussed. - Artistic creation in workshops (writing, introduction to illustration, photography, expressive drawing), that will give an artistic shape to the fruits of the previous reflections. - Leisure time for the youth, so that they can practice some recreative activities (sport, games) as well as get to know the region. - A summarization of the work done, with a compilation of the artistic creations elaborated during the exchange period, and meetings with journalists and illustrators. Several moments of the exchange program will be entirely devoted to learning and using non-formal and informal learning methods, which we will be able to use directly at the debates when tackling the topics of “freedom of speech” and “interreligious dialogue”. Our exchange will be finished with the edition of an illustration memorandum that we intend to edit both in paper and digital version, to ensure a larger broadcast. We plan as well to produce a video that will complement our work that we will edit at the end of the exchange program, illustrating the different phases of the experience and the progression of the thoughts of the participant young, allowing us to the spreading of this action.
