Project Design Thinking is a common project between Spanish and Lithuanian youth, which was carried out in Gargždai, Lithuania. 24 young people and 4 group leaders participated in the project. The main aim of the project was to master the method of creative thinking Design Thinking and to test it in the social sphere. On one hand, the project supplied young people with effective tool, so that they could learn to solve problems with the help of critical thinking, which they might face in their environment, besides the project developed some of their competencies like analytic and critical thinking, collaboration, citizenship, initiative. On the other hand, young people were looking for concrete solutions how to improve the quality of life of habitants of retirement house of old people house. We hope, that the solutions suggested by the young people – keeping pets and the programme „Young friend“ - would be implemented in the retirement home of people. Project also added to the mutual understanding of those young people and their entrance to friendship relationship, allowed to get to know Spanish and Lithuanian culture better, during the excursions and trips young people got acquainted with Lithuanian areas. The project participants during the preparation period and project activities consistently went through all the stages of Design Thinking method (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test), using a variety of non-formal education methods (different methods that helps to be empathic, composite character profile, brainstorming, prototyping, testing and so on.). Group leaders played a facilitators role of Design Thinking and were responsible for the entire project management. Project aimed to present the Design Method and its implementation to as many young people as possible. For that purpose we created a short video a Design Thinking method blog explaining the Design Method and its application. The project introduced an innovative and an effective method which promotes creative thinking not only in the local community of Gargždai, but also in Lithuania and in Europe. For that reason we organized some sessions about Design Thinking for the representatives of ONG of Lithuania and Baltics countries (Latvia, Estonia, Finland). The project lasted 10 months, 9 days were dedicated to Exchange Programme.
