The dialogue between the decision makers and the youth has long past in Zalaszentgrót, still, it isusually connected to individual programmes and actions. In this project we would like to create a base for the youth initatives in the area of Zalaszentgrót to become permanent. With the competency development of the newly established Children and Youth Council and the active youth of the region, and by involving the local decision makers, a dialogue will start, which ensures the long term development and work of both parties.Our experience is that the youth are not really a part of the social life of the settlements and not asked when making decisions. The newly established Council has an important role, as it is to represent the interests of the youth and negotiate with the decision makers.The goals of the project:- teaching and helping the members and helpers of the Children and Youth Council in Zalaszentgrót to negotiate with the local decision makers- starting a structured dialogue between the youth and the local decision makers- teaching democracy to the youth of the Zalaszentgrót region- sensitizating the decision makers of the settlements of Zalaszentgrót region – and mainly that of Zalaszentgrót – to the problems of the local youth- 30 young people will be involved in the project, from the members of the Children and Youth Council and from among the active youth. Main activites of the project: youth meetings, 2 three-day trainings, study tour and democracy camp for primary school children. The training will be realized by involving external experts, so that these young people can acquire the skills and competencies needed to the successful work of the Council. They will be able to represent the youth, they will learn how to ask for their needs and represent their ideas and initiatives when negiotiating with the decision makers. As an adult, these young people will gain self-confidence and they will be able to successfully communicate and be an efficient part of society.
