Deelname aan de European Museum Advisors Conference 2014: Museum work - Working for museums; en implementatie van de resultaten in het scholingswerk
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Netherlands Museum Advisors Foundation (LCM) is the Dutch network organization of museum advisors. These advisors all have their own region (the provinces of the Netherlands); they share within LCM their training materials and work together in developing new materials. LCM aims at educating museum staff, mostly volunteers in museums, and also refresher courses for museum professionals. Our education activities consist of advisory work, training courses and providing information and learning tools through our website. LCM wants seven museum advisors to take part in the European Museum Advisors Conference, which is helt every two years. The staff involved in this application are all working within the field of adult education, so their most important skills are teaching skills. Their expertise is in the field of working with collections of museums and other heritage institutions. Aspects of this expertise are: collection information and collection conservation work, digitization of collections (e.g. for Europeana), reaching diverse audiences with collections, using collections as a means of social inclusion and empowerment. This years conference is organized by the Landesstelle für die nichtstaatlichen Museen in Bayern, and will take place from the 6th untill the 10th of July in München. In this conference we share our experiences, learn from each other for example about projects we are all involved in, such as collection management improvement, museum certification, digitization of collections, accessibility of museums and collections. The new competences and experiences can lead to new projects, sometimes on a European level, such as for example the translation of SPECTRUM (standard for collection management) in several other European languages (Dutch, Portuguese, Finnish, German). Our participation in the EMAC conference aims at: - learning about new teaching methods and tools - validating the European dimension of our work - dessimanation of the results of the conference: sharing experiences with our LCM-colleagues and in new projects for our target groups in education: museum volunteers and professionals
