Discovering Deaf culture is a project which is part of an European scouting meeting, which concerns 5000 participants at august 2016, near Paris.The different scouting movements of Poitiers would like to work together to welcome, few days ago, nearly 40 European young people from 5 or 6 different nationalities.One motivation consists in discover specificities of Poitiers, which is renowned for is tradition of wlecoming foreing students and its action to the deaf.The project consists in:- Discover France through the city of Poitiers, its immediate environment and its singularities.- Building a European identity through a discovery of institutions, through meeting other people, through the exchange.- Discovering Deaf culture and bring a reflection on disability, through the hosting of a team of deaf, the professional meeting and an introduction to sign language.- The collective construction in the service of coexistence, through an artistic work, combining all forms of expression, to which every young person could participate.The success of this project is based of Scouting and methods. Everyone could be assaociated in all over the process, since collect of ideas to end of project ant its continuation.After the meeting everyone should have a more pragmatic view of disability and deafness; everyone will have to learn about a different culture. Their personal lives should be enriched by this experience that will mark them forever.This human adventure will be the first step of a long march, because everyone will leave with the desire to continue this approach of disability and this approach of the intercultural. From National citizens, they will become European citizens and citizens of the world.
