Discover art, Reveal Expression. How to use Creativity and Art in Youth-work. In order to be able to express ourselves, we all need to reveal a certain vulnerability. This is a step outside our comfort zone, a step that is definitely not easy. During this training course we will discover several art disciplines and live trough an entire creative artistic project. And while we are doing this, we will learn from each-other. Question our current approach on youth-work and start to DARE and use art while working with youngsters.
"D.A.R.E - Discover art, Reveal Expression" is a training course for youth workers. It will take place in Bucharest, Romania. It will last 7 and a half days of activity (travelling days excluded) on the first week of August. The main issue addressed will be the use of art and creativity in youth work. The main aim of the training course is to empower the creativity of youth workers by creating a strong link between art, culture and non-formal education. The selected partner organizations have a wide expertise in the art and creative domains. The organizations that will work on this projects delivery are coming from the following countries: Belgium, Poland, Portugal, FYR of Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Romania. Each one of the organizations will be responsible of involving 3 youth leaders as their participants in the projects main activity.
The methodology will be composed of a wide spectrum of tools and non formal education methods, such as: creative presentations, ice breaking games, energizers, workshops, brainstorming, working in smaller groups, peer learning, group discussions, case studies and evaluation. The training will have an important focus on practicing, exercising and getting feedback at all levels.
For this training course there were traced several objectives, as it follows:
-Provide an introduction of the creativity use in youth work and competence development for youth leaders.
-Provide an alternative environment to discover participants’ strengths, skills and talents.
-Improve knowledge regarding contemporary art and implement it into the non formal education
-Become aware of the development, differences and similarities of other alternative cultures.
-Build a creative mind-set for the youth work
-Create a network for the creative young people in Europe.
Once the participants will have attended D.A.R.E. they can apply the gained knowledge and skills on: problem solving, group dynamics, project management, career coaching, event management and many more aspects of youth-work.
