Attractiveness of VET, which focus on the European level, is increased by improving the quality of vocational training and compliance with labor market needs. In 2007 practical training resource development program was approved by which infrastructure of Lithuania's sectoral practical training centers is created. The main objective of SPTC - to ensure that persons using the latest technology and equipment, would acquire the labor market needs of practical skills. However, using of the SPTC is not yet able for the other students from another schools, where this kind of equipment will not be installed, as well as employees of businesses and individuals who need to retrain or improve competencies. What is more, upgraded training programs that focus on the development of sectoral practical training centers to meet the needs of the market also are not also completed.
In order to ensure compliance between qualification of the specialists from the transport and logistics sector and the labor market needs, for this project various types of educational institutions in Vilnius region (initial training , continuing education , PI) which are preparing the logistics and transport specialists, together with employers are working together. The main point of this project will be to develop a model - to write recommendations for SPTC database how to create needed conditions for learning or improving the skills and competencies for the students from other schools, employees of businesses and individuals, as well as to develop or restructure curricula oriented to the creation of the SPTC base of employers needs.
The project will involve educational institutions, which are creating the SPC. Number of participants - 7. Duration - 5. One visit is expected. All participants will have a higher education and experience in the development of logistics and transport specialists or organizing their training and work process.
Objectives of the project:
• to create a partnership between vocational schools and business institutions;
• to focus on the transport and logistics sector, where is the lack of qualified professionals;
• to develop qualification according to labour market needs;
• to improve the quality of vocational practical training using sectoral practical training sinters.
During the project, the participants gained knowledge and experience will contribute to development of the curriculum of international logistics and transport sector, quality of the implementation and compliance with the labor market needs. Upon completion of the new/updated training programs, young people will have the necessary skills and this will contribute to the reduction of unemployment nationwide.
