The topic of our project is ‘Dances through the ages’. The most important thing in this project is to help students improve their skills in English. It is used as a communication tool in the project, but the students learn some basic words in the target language. This increases their motivation to learn foreign languages and use them in making contacts in real life. This project aims to create the feeling of tolerance among students and teachers, and to help them to get to know more about the cultural and music heritage of their own country, as well as the partner country. Students research and gather information about music, dances, instruments and national costumes of their countries. They learn different dances and songs of the partner country, share opinions and ideas, which contributes to combating xenophobia and prejudice. The gathered information is used for creating a CD with selected multimedia presentations, exhibitions, website, booklet with photos and stories of dances, a calendar, concerts and contests and a trilingual thematic dictionary. These products are presented to the local community in an exhibition at the project’s conclusion.
