Daleko poza granice – w kierunku edukacji bilingwalnej
Start date: Oct 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project created by The Group of Catholic General Education Schools Number 1 in Katowice provides for changing students’ needs in the context of unifying Europe. One of the project’s main aims is broadening educational offer for students (bilingual class), school development and its competitiveness on the educational market, as well as raising teachers’ language and professional competences. Therefore it is concordant with the aims and priorities of Erasmus+ program, especially within the range of demands such as internationality, European values promotion, multilingualism, or equality and integration. The school workers (including the principal) will directly take part in the project. They will constitute quite a differentiated group if sex, age and language competence are concerned. It will be staffed not only by English language teachers, teachers qualified to teach other subjects in this language, but also by teachers with average or little language knowledge, wanting to develop their skills in this aspect. Project’s program will encompass participation in different foreign courses (methodological, language, language- observational, and management), conducted in centers, specializing in this type of activities in Great Britain or on Malta. Its realization will be preceded by appropriate thematic, language, cultural, and organizational preparation. The trainings according as their forms and aims, will be conducted with the help of varied methods and educational techniques, e.g. conversational, question and answer, dialogue, worksheet, multimedia, blended learning etc. Participation in particular activities will bring about both “soft” (connected with language competence raising) as well as “hard” results ( in the form of specific certificates). In the projects realization process a fundamental emphasis will be put on acquired abilities and qualifications’ recognition and widespreading of the taken actions’ effects. It will positively influence teachers’ engagement, students’ activeness, improvement of our establishment’s educational offer, and its increased interest in the local community. Consequently, it will result in measurable long-term advantages such as: raising the number of teachers with bilingual teaching qualifications, boosting the number of students in our school, opening in the future a class on a secondary high school level, preparing for the International Baccalaureate.
