FINISHED
This project was developed and planned together by Czech and Icelandic organisations working with children and youth, carrying out informal education programmes and focus on international cooperation and participation, community projects and long-term staff training programmes. Project is supervised by Rökstólar Samvinnumiðstöð (the Icelandic part) and Luzanky leisure time centre (SVC Luzanky, the Czech part). It is a study visit for 18 Czech youth workers in Icelandic organisations, which includes a 4-day educational activity on Self-directed learning. SVC Luzanky as the Czech project supervisor will involve two other cooperating organisations. In Iceland, Czech group will meet a local group of the same number and structure. The main project objective is to learn and gain inspiration from each other. Project will provide opportunity for experience, best practice examples and innovations exchange related to practical use. It will provide enough opportunity to become familiar with hosting organizations background, activity range and working methods – conditions stated by founder, organization management, fundraising, youth policy involvement etc. Participants are also interested in exploring new educational methods, especially Self-Directed Learning. During the study visit participants will get inspiration and motivation to implement new ideas and methods back in the involved organizations.Working methods are based on non-formal education and lifelong learning principles. Project will include both individual and group work, we will use brainstorming method, open world cafe, workshop and presentations, experiential learning activities, energizers. We will also become familiar with Self-Directed Learning Method. During the activities we will use observing and benchmarking methods to compare the organisations´ specification, working, promotion and reaching the target group methods. In long term run, the project will help to establish long-term relationships of international cooperation, to enhance self-confidence in foreign language communication, to support the interest in European topics and enlarge the international cooperation potential of involved organizations. Moreover, as one of the project outcomes a commented contact database including all involved organizations and photodocumentation will be created. In our opinion, experience exchange, opportunity for sharing, learning and testing new individual education methods at international level is an efficient way of youth workers´competence and skills development. Study visit enables to reach all of these goals in practice.
