Curricular reform of heritage sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The curricular modernization involves 3 universities in B&H (Sarajevo, Tuzla, Banja Luka). The reform will include the following principle actions:a) full reform of the MA curriculum in Archaeology at the UNISAb) modernization of the BA/MA curricula in history at UNISA, UNITU, UNIBL by introducing subjects from heritage sciences (archaeology, art history, conservation and museum studies). Accompanying actions will include:c) modernization of librariesd) modernization of equipmente) interacting/involvement of major public heritage bodies and authoritiesf) networking and knowledge disseminationThe project is aimed at developing an optimum level (comparable to curricula in neighboring countries, e.g. Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia) of teaching these disciplines in B&H as soon as possible, and is open to all positive measures to promote and disseminate knowledge and values of cultural heritage. For this reason, also some principle B&H Institutions working in heritage sectors were invited to the project as well as EU universities with excellent track record in the disciplinary fields and/or collaboration with B&H universities.The principal academic content are activities associated with the implementation of the MA (120 ECTS) curricula in archaeology, and modernization of the curricula in history and art history with heritage module (30 ECTS).Principal outcomes planned: full MA curriculum in archaeology implemented (UNISA), Heritage module implemented at 3 universities, new university teachers trained, new adequate equipment and libraries upgraded.
