Leaving for an European voluntary service as youngster with fewer opportunities is often a challenge. It is very difficult indeed to find any hosting organization with resources to welcome them. These youngsters are often excluded from the program whereas it represents a wonderful tool for intercultural learning but for social –professional integration and self-fulfillment.
This Culturopolis project wishes to enable 28 youngsters to get involved in an EVS. It gives priority to youngsters who are dropping out school, unskilled or poorly skilled, in difficulty to be integrated. Therefore in our project, we privilege short missions, from 1 to 2 months (23 projects out of 28), which are adapted and accessible to this public who can benefit from a reinforced mentorship in the social-cultural fields.
In addition, the project mobilizes a network of local partners (such as the Mission Local from PACA area) expert in the insertion and supporting underprivileged young people who are far from being informed about the mobility-opportunities proposed by the European Commission. Our partners enhance them to get integrated in the mobility project in the frame of their insertion and to ensure a better following-up before and after the project.
This project in Europe gathers many partners – Germany, Croatia France, Italy, Greece, Latvia, Poland, Portugal and Romania, all united by common objectives and implementations to struggle against exclusion, to foster young-insertion and European citizenship.
This project aims favoring their social-professional insertion and their employability, as they are not skilled, finding a “short job” is often out of reach for them, so our project contributes not only to remobilize them, to give them more self-confidence, to improve their autonomy but also to make them discover new activities and new ways of learning through a non–formal educational program.
In a political context of a growing defensive identity process and increasing far-right parties within the European Union, specifically in PACA, we wish thanks to Culturopolis to promote international dialogues, a rapprochement between people in order to fight against discrimination and exclusion.
This project is a mean to foster the active participation of young people, to give them the will to get committed in their locality when they come back, in other words to be a kind of ambassadors of intercultural exchanges. This is the purpose of our project.
