The project is set in the context of the need for young people to become aware that even if we are living in different countries and we have different cultures we must learn how to live together and be able to find the bridges that connect us and make us a big community. The project main goal is to raise awareness of young people regarding the similarities and differences between cultures in order to enlarge their intercultural horizon and to let participants explore in a practical way old traditions of different cultures:The project specific objectives are:1. Offer specific competences and experiences to help the 24 participants of the youth exchange to get out of their “cultural comfort zone” and discover the multitude of cultures surrounding them with the help of sessions that use experiential learning2. Increase the participants cultural knowledge and skills by involving them in practical workshops of creating traditional crafts/objects from each of the participants countries in the exchange3. Develop participants ability to understand how the surrounding culture influences our daily life by creating a space where they can explore the core elements that form a culture4. Enhance on a long term participants tolerance and respect towards other cultures in order to reduce negative effects such as discrimination and stereotypesThe project includes 24 participants from Cyprus, Romania, Italy, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Croatia and 7 young leaders. Participants are aged 16-30 years old and half of each national group is formed of young people with fewer opportunities. The project activities include a variety of non-formal methods and practical workshops. Participants will participate in workshops of creating traditional jewelleries, traditional puppets, woodcarving and painting, making halloumi cheese or Italian ceramic workshop. During the exchange day there are planned experiential session with the aim of increasing participants intercultural sensitivity and combat stereotypes and increase their tolerance. The project will develop several competences of young people in the area of developing intercultural awareness and a sense of understanding culture and adapt multiculturalism as a value. The youth exchange we plan to implement is aimed to impact the young participants by increasing their cultural awareness and cultural sensitivity. The project will impact as well the 7 group leaders involved by increasing their competences in the youth work field and facilitation skills. Our project will impact the youth organisation involved in this project. Our project is planned to have an impact at a regional/national level of each country involved with the help of the Exhibition- Seminar that is going to be organised in each country after the exchange. The project activities include a variety of non-formal methods and practical workshops.
