REFERENCE: 553641-EPP-1-2014-1-IT-EPPKA1-JMD-MOB_MIMTITLE: Crossing the Mediterranean: towards Investment and Integration, MIMObjectiveThe aim of the programme Crossing the Mediterranean: towards Investment and Integration (MIM) is to develop a professional profile which is flexible enough to adjust to the Mediterranean as a changing environment; a self-aware expert able to understand his/her place in such a complex scenario and to manage the different situations. Course durationTwo years (120 ECTS credits).Brief descriptionThe European Master “Crossing the Mediterranean: towards Investment and Integration” (MIM) is a two-year study programme jointly offered by Università Cà Foscari Venezia (Italy), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain) and Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 (France). The three universities have an outstanding reputation in their respective fields: languages, history, literature, religion, gender studies of the Southern bank of the Mediterranean (Cà Foscari); communication, human development, multimedia and Euro-Mediterranean regional integration and migrations (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona); applied social and human sciences, education, European law and immigration policies, migration studies and decentralized cooperation (Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3). With an experience of 15 years, the MIM is a highly qualified academic programme focused on Mediterranean exchanges and integration. The MIM provides students with the methodological tools to pursue research-oriented activities or research training, and with high-level competences in the field of mediation and cooperation. The programme also offers the possibility to study the reality of the Southern shore of the Mediterranean from a social, political, economic, anthropological and cultural point of view. This more applied part of the curriculum is flanked by a theoretical approach to questions of mediation and of inter-cultural relationships. It relies upon social-psychological disciplines, which are well represented in the master’s syllabus. Another important aspect of the training is to confront the students with the direct practice of mediation, through the contributions of specialists in the field.Career prospectsThe adequacy of the programme is reflected by the high level of employability of the MIM students. A number of associated partners provide a strong framework for complementary training and/or internship periods so as to prepare the students for their future careers. The master meets the demand for skilled professionals and researchers capable to understand and master all the different scenarios presented by a complex and heterogeneous reality such as the Mediterranean area.An international experienceMIM is a programme with an international nature focused on inter-Mediterranean mediation and exchanges. It gathers students from all over the world and has a complete offer of languages relevant to its Mediterranean context. MIM students are required to take Arabic, French and Spanish courses for the purposes of mediation and resolution of conflicts. In addition, they deepen their knowledge in Moroccan and Classical Arabic and have the possibility to take Hebrew, Italian and Catalan courses. All students are given the opportunity to experience the feeling of being “stranger”: the MIM course, taught in four different countries, and the compulsory mobility periods are acquired as an integral dimension of the programme. The modules –organized in Venice, Barcelona and Montpellier– are complemented by training periods in Sousse, Meknès and Strasbourg and by professional internships in various Mediterranean countries.DiplomaThe students who fulfil the requirements for the programme receive a multiple degree composed by three nationally recognized degrees issued by the three universities of the consortium.Websitehttp://www.mastermimplus.eu/
