Crossing Euro-African with Global Youth Work

Portuguese NYC together with partners from Southern Youth Councils of Europe and African Portuguese Speaking Countries plan to develop a long term cooperation project aiming to: To develop intercultural dialogue and cooperation; To empower NYCs, youth organizations and youth leaders envisaging the development of a long term strategic vision of Europe-Africa youth cooperation; To bring Global Education to NYCs' educational strategies as an important tool for youth work, youth participation and youth policy development, as well as youth organizations capacity-building and leadership empowerment; To create a space for sharing good practices; To empower young educators, (competences related with Non-Formal Education, Global Education and Global Youth Cooperation); To strengthen NYCs' role as organisations of local, national and global youth activism and participation in decision making concerning issues relevant to youth and its contribution to cooperation and development; To bring together several youth cooperation regional processes and build bridges to identify common challenges, interests, to build a global agenda and define a common strategic vision. The priorities mentioned in the Call, that we cover with this project are Cultural Diversity, Global issues affecting young people, such as climate change, sustainable development, migrations, and the Millennium Development Goals and Strengthening the Euro-African dialogue, exchange and cooperation in the field of youth. This project includes three residential activities (Portugal, Cape Verde and Spain) and in between participants will put in practice in their contexts the outcomes of the residential events. It will be involved a total of 21 participants (one educator and one political representative from each partner - expects Portugal), 3 trainers, 1 reporter and documentalist and 2 local organizers and one person from the Secretariat of Portuguese NYC. As main outputs we'll have a common global agenda of political representatives, 10 Global Education national activities and a publication. As indirect target group, we plan to reach around 200 youngsters that will participate in the national activities. The publication will assure the results dissemination and it's expected to be a useful tool for partners and others working in the youth field. With this project, we hope to bring closer different regional youth cooperation processes and actors.
