The project foresees for the Bulgarian side activities for the prevention of bank erosion of Maritsa river by planting Krairechna street, equipment delivery and installation of the green belt. In the Greek side and under the leadership of the municipality ofOrestiada, the study and design works of Ardas river bank area development west of Kastanies will be performed in order to create the ground for the actual construction of the bank reformation. In addition, the municipality will undertake the reformation of the square of the Kastanies village near Ardas river for improving the recreation facilitiesof the area.The expected results of the project will be the improvement of the attractiveness and competitiveness of the cross border region, the encouragement of the mobility between the two regions, the facilitation of the cultural and educational exchanges and the enhancement of the meeting and resting points for visitors and residents.
