CRESCA : Creare, rafforzare Esperienze di volontariato e Strumenti di Certificazione delle Abilità

CRESCA stemms from a confrontation between the receiving organizations (RO), the Apulian schools Battisti Ferraris and ITET SALVEMINI, which will welcome for the first time EVS volunteers and the Foundation S. Vigilio located in Northern Italy offering study support for the youth of hotel school in Ossana. The set of partners is convinced that non-formal learning experiences represent a "second chance" for young people who are at risk of dropping out but, unfortunately:1.volunteering remains an activity for higher social classes;2. there is an instrument of recognition of the skills acquired during non-formal learning, the Youthpass, but this instrument still remains little known;3. A definition of a methodology for the validation of skills acquired during non-formal learning experiences by formal learning structures is still missing.For the 20 years of EVS, CRESCA wants to build bridges between formal and non-formal learning, between schools and the third sector, between North and South Italy and between EU citizens to encourage school inclusion and integration of young people with fewer opportunities.To ensure the sustainability and dissemination of the results, CRESCA is divided into two main activities:A. mobility within the EVS of 6 volunteers, 5 of which have already been identified. They come from Estonia, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Germany, of which a young person with fewer opportunities and two males. The volunteers will carry out their activities at the high school ITET, the middle school Battisti-Ferraris and the Foundation S. Vigilio. Their service will last between 9 and 11 months.The volunteers will all be involved in the activities of the ROs, especially in recreational, cultural and educational activities, they will be able to present their ideas as for example in the frame of parallel initiatives "Volunteer the world", title suggested by the volunteers themselves. They will be in contact via Skype and will be invited to visit the different ROs to develop activities and events open to the local community to promote volunteering as a learning experience. The parallel activities involving all the 6 volunteers is an opportunity to stimulate the contact between peers, encouraging not only socialization and learning outcomes, but also the spirit of initiative of volunteers.B. A "Youth workers exchange" will involve 13 organizations from Belgium, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. Some of the organizations are schools including two accredited for EVS and 2 interested in accreditation, the CSV Trentino , which in addition of being interested in accreditation, has been involved in validation of competences acquired in non-formal learning contexts and 6 associations involved in EVS. The set of partners wants to create stable bridges between schools and associations to promote school inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities. The exchange will take place in February 2017 in Trento to allow Apulian schools to begin their experience as ROs.CRESCA should have a positive impact on all the actors involved.> for EVS volunteers it is both a life experience and a learning opportunity: they will develop skills and attitudes important for their personal growth and for a future job, according to the principle of learning by doing. Volunteers will be supported in their learning process by all partners;> ROs benefit from enriching elements and new activities designed by volunteers;> users of the ROs will build relationships with volunteers of different cultures and will help them in learning the Italian language, thus valuing their knowledge. The volunteers, in turn, will be for the students examples showing them how quickly you can learn a foreign language;> the local community of the Ros will acquire information about volunteering and about EVS as learning experiences. In the long term we expect a greater involvement of young people in EVS and volunteering with a greater social cohesion in the local community;> participants in the youth workers exchange will be able to live a non-formal learning experience facing difficulties in filling-out the Youthpass and reflecting on their learning path. This experience will allow them to offer a better support to volunteers in structuring their own learning path;CRESCA will have an impact at local, national and European level, promoting a methodology regarding the recognition by the schools of skills acquired during non-formal learning experiences. This methodology will be developed during the youth workers exchange.
