Our project Creative communities - view to Europe is about changing perspectives between young living in different countries and cultures. We want to courage the young with fewer opporturnities to get international experiences and see themselves from a larger point of view. We use arts and crafts as a bridge between different cultures. We hope that us hosting the volunteer here in Lahti will also encourage our youngsters to search for international experiences and intercultural connections in the future.The two volunteers, who come from Germany and Poland, will stay in Lahti about eight months. Volunteers will be accomodated in youth apartments of Lasna ry (www.lasna.net) that provides rent flats (and support in various situations in life of the young tenants) where they can also make contacts with the local youngsters. One volunteer will be working with young people in youth clubs where volunteer will mentor local youngsters in their freetime activities. And an other in Art and Craft workshop, Liina & Ekoakseli, in Employment unit Akseli. Akseli offer employment and training for young people age of 17-24. We see volunteers working period as a big opporturnity to our young people as it is for volunteer. Volunteer could encourage our young to be braver and more independent .
