Improvement of the concerning waste management on both of the cross-border sides through improving information, identification of problems and tracks for solutions, partnership establishment, strengthening of institutional structures through improving the cross-border systems for utilities, and by this way improving the regional capability for solving problems of industrial waste,best information at all levels (press conferences, press releases, press communications, press and radio advertising), networking and cooperation between institutions dealing with ecology (promote innovation and knowledge transfer by using a common basis and the possibility), strengthening of institutional structures . Creating channels of communication and information for members of the research teams, students, professors and researchers in the consortium). Improvement of the industrial waste management at the cross-board region: data collection and creating a common database of industrial subjects which generate waste, quality and quantity of industrial waste.Development of a network of teams, working in the field of ecology which will lead to the creation of a joint team for the finding of mutual points during the exchange of knowledge concerning the remediation of the polluted territories.Looking for ways of collaboration with the local administration for popularization of the results of the survey, the created database and the resolution of the ecological problems highlight the role of NPO as a mediator between the scientific teams, local municipalities and the industry. Achievements: The project achieved the following results:- Conducted a comprehensive research on pollutants in the cross-border area and the ecological and health risks in the polluted areas in the region. The research results were presented at a conference organized by the “Bulgaria in Europe” Association as well as a conference organizedby the lead partner in Vidin;- Development and distribution to the relevant government institution a joint Strategy for recovery of the polluted areas;- Organization of numerous expert meetings, including with the relevant NGO organizations, municipal and district administrations, and a scientific conference in Vidin;- Organization of a comprehensive publicity and awareness raising campaign including public meetings, publishing articles in newspapers and journals, television interviews, production of a short film describing project results and distribution of leaflets, brochures and other promotionalmaterials.
