The project idea is to encourage entrepreneurship and promote business activity in Greece and Bulgaria through the creation of selected programmes and projects targeted to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and business related organisations, financed by EU Structural and State Funds through the countries Operational Programmes (OPs), such as OP Competitiveness, OP Digital Convergence, and Regional Development OPs. Furthermore, the project aims to create a project pipeline for the modernization of SMEs through the adoption of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This project pipeline will occur by the exchange of best practices applied in the two countries and the study of other successful cases. Therefore the main objective of the project is to create an SME project pipeline in Greece and Bulgaria, financed by Structural Funds (SF), in order to reinforce the competitiveness of the economies of the two countries. The project will establish an open communication channel between the project partners, as well as other stakeholders, which together with the exchange of best practices on programmes and projects could lead to further business and economic development Expected Results: The expected results after the implementation of the project activities will play a key role to its sustainability. It is very important that the project partners play an important role in their countries on implementation of SME policies, on adoption of new technologies by SMEs, and on management of investment programs targeted to SMEs. It is the responsibility of project partners to fuel the competent authorities which draw up policies on SMEs with the project outcomes, to ensure the implementation of its results in the future. The project will create the establishment of an open communication channel between the project partners, which together with the exchange of best practices on programmes and projects will lead to:§ New investments from foreign and domestic funds on key sectors of economy, § Development of SMEs through adoption of ICT systems, § Innovative SMEs, § New business related infrastructure and renovation of existing ones, § Creation of new enterprises from people having difficulty accessing the labour market, § Environment friendly enterprises, § Attraction of tourists of high income levels in modern hotel complexes, § Development of the exports, It should be also mentioned that another important aspect of the proposed project refers to the provision to the Bulgarian side of know how on grant scheme management and design of SME policies. This will result to better management procedures, use of new technologies, less bureaucracy as well new improved policies for SME development.
