Latgale (LV) and Rytų Aukštaitija (LT) regionsboth see tourism as a strategic key industry intheir economic revival thus the project ideais to promote regional tourism developmentbased on the branding of the cross-borderregion Baltic Country of Lakes.The implementation of the project resultsin the increased awareness about BalticCountry of Lakes as an attractive tourismdestination and higher number of tourists tothe region.The main project activities therefore includepreparation of promotional strategy forthe Baltic Country of Lakes for 2006-2011,common tourism information system andon-line tourism information in 5 languages,carrying out a comprehensive national leveladvertising campaign, preparation of 20-30innovative tourism product packages duringinteractive workshops, study visits, individualconsultations and product developmentdays, preparation of 2 feasibility studies forwater-based tourism and establishment ofthe Management Committee of the BalticCountry of Lakes.
