CPD in Construction Industry – Recognition of Needs and Creation of the Professional Training in the Area of Preparation and Management of Infrastructure Construction Projects Financed by the European Union
The project aims to develop the professional skills of managers and engineers from the construction industry, in addition to public authority employees, with regard to the award and management of construction contracts that are, increasingly, international in nature. The project will offer courses in the effective management of large international construction projects. The project will begin by gathering information, in the form of questionnaires and focus group interviews, on the training needs of managers/engineers in the construction business and with regard to the legal regulations and management procedures in each of the partner countries. A project website will be established to co-ordinate and provide an overview of the research findings and will disseminate research results. On the basis of this research phase, project partners will develop training methodology and specific course material on infrastructure building and contract acquisition in the international construction industry. Courses will include information and advice on preparing international legal contracts in the construction industry, international tendering procedures and international risk management. Course tutors will be trained in how to deliver the courses and test courses will be operated to assure the quality of the end project materials. A series of handbooks, in CD-Rom and printed format, will include: information on the recognition of training needs; an analysis of legal regulations; course methodology and how to teach it; training materials and guidelines for the performance related assessment of course participants. The project expects to encourage links between the construction industry in the different partner countries and to further strengthen cooperation between training organisations and business enterprises.
