Cooperation between Årdal vidaregåande skule in Norway and Täkniskólinn in Iceland.

Evaluation of previous experience with international school project tell us that internationalization quite clear gives more value. The international work are directly tied up to the curriculum objectives and a part of both European, National, Counties and our schools strategic plans. This means that this work are not in addition to, but are included in our schools main education and will be a natural part of school life . Therefore this is an important quality in learning and provide more value to the school and the pupils, both in terms of academic , social and cultural competence .Årdal secondary school has county departments in automation and chemistry process. This is because the industry is strong here in Årdal, and we have good cooperation with local companies. We see that businesses here in Årdal have had good cooperation with the aluminum industry in Iceland and we would like to expand this cooperation to include our school and vocational school Täkniskólinn in Reykjavik. We would also like to visit geothermal power plant in Iceland to look at the opportunity within renewable energy and heat recovery.This is our mobility project:Where:- Iceland, ReykjavikWho:- 3. class Automation (12 pupils) + 1 teacher- 2. class Chemistry Process (5 pupils) + 1 teacher- 1 representative from managementWhen:- Week 9 and 10 in 2016Activities:- Automation: the students from Årdal will visit Tækniskólinn Reykjavik to follow classes at The School and Electrical Technology for 7-8 days. Then they will spend 2-3 days to visits aluminum production at Nordural and geothermal power plant near Reykjavik.- Chemistry Process: 5 pupils for practical vocational training at Nordural aluminum plant for 2 weeks.Why mobility to Iceland:- In Iceland they have simular industry that we have in Årdal, mainly aluminum production and hydro power. Companies in Iceland and Årdal have established good cooperation whitch we would like to expand to include Årdal vgs and Tækniskólinn in Reykjavik.- An international mobility project will also strengthen the status of vocational education, and motivate pupils to choose an education that society needs in the future.- Language barrier will be small.- Possibilities for exchange of experience within education and training in automation and chemistry process.- Develop vocational skills in the field of industrial technology and energy.Impacts:- Both academically and personal development for both pupils and teachers.- Strengthening the status of vocational education and the reputation of the school- Good for recruitment and stabilization- Sharing experiences and strengthen cooperation between industry / school in Iceland and Norway- Greather international perspective, and easyer to communicate in English- Apprentices and future vocational workers will be attractive to companies worldwide.
