PROJECT
FINISHED
Our project aims to give our students in the hotell- and restaurant program the extra edge that will help them be totally prepared for the labour market, not only in Sweden but in the European labour market. The background is that we feel it is essential to open the eyes of the students who are underprivilidged to the possibilities of the European Union. Many of the students in our target group has not had the chance to travel outside Sweden so this is a chance for us to help them understand what they can do.
We have three very reliable partners in France and Italy, all with a very good reputation in their regions who will ensure that our students get the best possible chances to improve their skills, train their languages, grow socially and get new confidence and motivation. We hope to be able to send 16 students during a two year period to our partners. Each student will spend three - four weeks in the foreign work place, monitored by our partner in that place. Our partners will pick our students and staff up at the airport, make sure they are given a good workplace, are well monitored, have good living quarters during the stay and will also report back to us about the progress the student is making.
Our partners will also send students to us so we have a common interest to make this exchange work. We will have staff that travel with our students to our partner schools, to help the students during the first days to get used to the environment. Then our staff will stay a week to exchange experiences with their colleagues.
We think that our project can better prepare our students for their future careers and so avoid unemployment or school drop-out. We feel that this project will give them credits to put in their CV:s that will make them attractive to future employers.
We furthermore want to show our students the huge benefit EU has given and can continue to give the people of Europe if only we continue working together. Our project is also a way of fighting xenofobia in our school since we are a regin that has received a lot of refugees during the last years.
