The multilateral youth exchange "Connected through culture & customs" will take place in Prilep, Macedonia, from 15.09 - 20.09.2016.Youth association Info front - Prilep will be the host and organiser of the project.Theme: To show the young people that culture and customs can connect the youngsters coming from different countries, backgrounds and religions and to educate the young people about their and others’ cultures and customs.Objectives:- to inform and educate the young people how to get to know cultures/ customs;- to give information to young people about their own and others’ cultures and customs;- to get to know the foreign cultures;- to overcome the lack of information which generates intolerance;- to overcome the prejudices about other cultures and religions because exactly they are the reason for intolerance;- to find and to point out the similarities in the customs;- to show that many geographically distant countries share same/ similar customs and traditions;- to show that culture and customs can bridge the gap between nationalities;- to show that the customs, traditions, cuisines should be the reason to make the people comfortable, to break the ice, to connect them and not to fight whom does it belong to.During the 6-working-days project, 30 participants, coming from 6 different countries, namely Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Hungary, Turkey and Macedonia, will be actively involved in all of the activities.The activities foreseen in the project are:- team building workshops, in which the "Lost tribes on the island" or other method will be used, which will introduce them in team work and will teach them tolerance, communication and collaboration;- interactive lectures on the topics of cultural elements and customs, how to avoid misinterpretations;- discussions and debates, using the "Fishbowl", "World café", "Role playing game" or "Statement game" methods through which the participants will be actively involved and will be able to share their attitudes and points of view. The topics will be taking initiatives, how to use creative approach and media tools for promotion of cultural elements, tolerance, improving the people skills for better communication, through which the participants will express their opinion and learn the new ways of collaboration;- practical workshops, in which learning-by-doing method will be used such as : exploring cultural elements, developing social media platform, making promo materials, creating e-brochure;- Loesje creative writing: creating activist posters on tolerance, taking initiative, active participation;- reflection groups- open space workshop, in which the participants will reflect on learning experiences and outcomes;- writing daily learning diary which will help them in reviewing their learning process and will be useful for monitoring by the trainers and facilitators;- evaluation, networking and follow-up discussions, which can provide solid ground for future projects.The expected results are that the youngsters will learn about different cultural elements, about finding creative solutions for overcoming skepticism, intolerance and stereotypes, will change their approach towards other cultures, future active participation and creativity. They will explore new methods for learning and will pass on this gained knowledge to their own target groups in their own environment. The participants will learn creative approaches, new working methods and also organisational, technical, logistical and management skills. They will also improve their communication and social skills, will be motivated to take local initiatives and actions and will become more aware of their responsibilities as European citizens.
